Definition, Types, and Interview Method

The interview activity was very different from the press conference. There are still many people who think that press conferences are interviews because the final results obtained are the same, namely in the form of information. Even so, the interview still cannot be said to be the same as the press conference. The difference lies in the technique. In interviewing information seekers digging for information by asking questions and meeting the resource person directly. Conversely, a press conference is an event made by the speakers themselves by inviting information seekers to provide information or confirm something.

In short, the interviewer was visited by the interviewer, while the press conference of the resource person created the event by calling or inviting the interviewer.

Types of Interviews

There are several types of interview activities that are grouped based on the way they are implemented, namely closed, open, conference, group, individual, guided, free interviews. The following is a complete explanation of the types of interviews.

1. Closed Interview Closed

interview is an interview activity conducted in a closed manner. The interviewer must keep or keep the name and information about the resource person by falsifying or giving the initials the name of the informant. This closed interview can also be interpreted as an interview whose questions are limited and the available choices are available. An example is an interview using a questionnaire sheet.

2. Open interview

This interview contradicts the type of closed interview, which is an interview conducted by not keeping information about the source confidential and also having questions that are not limited or not bound by the answer. An example is an interview that asks the speaker to provide a complete explanation of a matter.

3. Conference

interviews Conference interviews are interviews conducted by an interviewer with a number of speakers and vice versa. Examples are interviews conducted on television shows or talk shows, interviews conducted by an interviewer to a number of speakers at formal events or public discussions, and teleconferences that are mostly done at news events.

4. Group Interviews Group

interviews are interviews conducted by a number of interviewers to the resource person and carried out at the same time. This is almost the same as conference interviews, but in group interviews the questions asked by each interviewer are different. An example is an interview with an artist, official, or band that achieves or is being exposed to a scandal.

5. Individual Interview Individual

Interviews are interviews conducted by an interview with a resource person. This interview is also called an individual interview. An example is an interview conducted by reporters in searching for news.

6. Guided

Interviews This interview is also called structured interviews. This type of interview usually uses several questions that have been prepared in advance by both the interviewer and the resource person. Examples are interviews that often occur on talk shows with special themes to speakers such as doctors, police, teachers, and others.

7. Free Interview

Free interviews are a type of interview whose questions are not prepared in advance. In other words this interview occurs spontaneously depending on the atmosphere and circumstances when the interview activities take place. This interview is often referred to as unstructured interviews.

Interview Method

To get information, there are several methods used by interviewers when conducting interviews.

1. Take notes

The first method is to note. Interviewers usually prepare books and pens to record answers from the speakers. When recording the answer, the interviewer will write it very quickly by simply writing the points. Because if not, they will not get the information that has been stated by the resource person. After obtaining the interview notes, the notes were developed using good and informative writing.

2. Recording / Recording

The next method is recording. The interviewer needs a device in the form of a voice recorder. This tool is used to record the answers given by the resource person, so that they will not lose any information at all. After getting the recording, the interviewer will write the transcript of the question and answer and make it a news article.
